Hello. Saw your Ugly Face fuzz covered pedals in the “Art of the Stompbox” DVD for the Museum of Making Music. Henry Kaiser was raving about it and I thought it had a unique sound that would work great for my music. Please let me know how if it is possible to order one. Best regards, Frank

Hi,
I saw your Uglyface – har har. The Schematic you had on your site with the layout. I wanted to know if you could explain the switch wiring for me with regards to the:
” * Connect to ground..”
comment about stopping oscillation when bypassed. Do those two lugs on the switch just go to ground or do you attach another LED to those two lugs?
The extra wire from the threshold pot to the stomp switch stops the oscillator from running when the box is bypassed. Otherwise you can hear the oscillator in bypass, if the oscillator is running. This is the same thing as turning the threshold pot all the way down when the effect is bypassed.
A lot of guys were building the Ugly Face with an LFO modulating the LED, in place of the envelope. Looks like what is going on in the video.

Hi, i’m trying to build a ring modulator and i think that your idea is a good solution!
You posted only eagle schematics and not verified…could you give me the original eagle drawing so i’ll test it for you!
Thank you very much

Hey,
You have some great stuff one here! I’m doing an internship at a repair shop this summer and I just wanted to know the general cost of making the Swollen Pickle clone (the Shiva Sonic). Also, this would be the first time building a pedal for me, so if you have any other suggestions on build or just tips in general, that would be great!
Thanks,
Jon

I figure it costs about $50 per box to make them one at time. There are a lot of people doing this, it’s not something that will make a lot of money. I just do it for fun, and hope I can sell something to offset the cost of parts.

Hey, just discovered your web site. How did you make the graphics for your pedals in the picture at the top? I’ve been looking for a way to do something like that – thinking about engraving with a dremel or something. Thanks!

I drew the designs myself. Printed them on press n peel and transferred to the box. Then etched the box using ferric chloride. There are several threads on this over at the diystompbox form. There’s a link in my sidebar.

I wanted to do the Green Ringer null pot mod and filter dpdt mod as you’ve done in your blog. I wanted to do it using the RTS pcb that GGG offers. http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/pdf/ggg_gro_lo.pdf?phpMyAdmin=78482479fd7e7fc3768044a841b3e85a But I’m having trouble seeing how to wire the pot and dpdt in reference to their PCB. Can you help me? Thanks.

Also, have you seen this 5 knob UF build?
