I just built up Jack Orman’s FET Muff. This is Big Muff built with FET’s instead of BJT’s. When I created the layout I had the idea that I would keep all of transistors in line so I could use a length of milmax header. I think this made for a better construction. It led to a more organized layout. Though it did cause a couple headaches with component placement.

This is Jack Orman’s Most FET Boost. This was an easy build. It sounds good, great clean boost with a lot of gain.

This is treble booster from the Stompboxology. This was an interesting new letter published by Nicolas Boscorelli. Who has, it seems, disappeared. If anyone has any information about this guy please email me! I looking for issues of Stompboxology. I have a few I can trade. There are some posted at http://moosapotamus.net/.

He also published The Stombox Cookbook. Which is very cool. It contains a lot of original and interesting Stompbox designs.

It has an interesting and original design based around a pair of FET’s.

This is a Green Ringer with both the filter mod and nulling mod. I found these mods at General Guitar Gadgets.

The filter mod filters the input signal to bring out a stronger octave. The nulling mod helps tune in the octave generated by balancing the signal on each half of the wave form.

The filter mod is switchable. With the switch on the octave is very pronounced. With an almost cartoonish character.

This is an Ugly Face by Tim Escobedo. I think the sound is pretty good. It makes a sort of pulse width modulated square wave via the guitar signal driving a 555. Not for every occasion. But the sound it makes it makes well. I really like this thing, so much in fact that I’ve made 3 so far.

Here’s a layout that would fit in a B sized box.

Here’s a modification of Tim’s original scheme that adds a blend knob. The blend knob mixes between the signal coming out of the 386 and the signal coming out of the 555. This adds an extra knob to the build, which makes for a pretty tight arrangement. The 16mm pots would work. But, 12mm pots with 1/2″ knobs would work well. Something like this at Mouser.com These pots are the same as the typical pots but they have a 12mm diameter body. A 1/2″ knob is about the same diameter.

This is Rebote 2 from tonePad.com. It sounds great. Very analog. This build was so fun I built.

The design on the box was based on a design I found in a book on Tibetan art.

It was a little work to get everything into a B sized box. But after the solder fumes had cleared there’s actually a little room left over.

Here’s a layout for the Rebote 2 that would fit in a B sized box.

This PCB board includes all of the wiring for DC jacks, Input and Output and 3PDT Stomp switch, and a perfboard area of 18 by 21. ThePCB board fits in 1590 B sized box with room for a 9V battery.
