This is a clone of the Univox Super Fuzz. I built a few of these here. This one uses a matched transistor pair: LM394CH. I thought this would enhance the octave effect since matched transistors enhance this effect.
Seems like this circuit likes low gain transistors in the rectifier. The LM394CH is a high gain device. It works but seems to lose that Super Fuzz sound. Doesn’t sound bad, just doesn’t sound as good the other builds. Sometimes you just have to try stuff and see if it works, and sometimes it doesn’t work.

NOTE! I had been using 10K for R4. I misread an old schematic, R4 Should be 1K8. This increases the gain in the first transistor stage, adds sustain, and just sounds better.
