Workshop: Common Emitter Amplifier

Today’s workshop at Noisebridge is about the Common Emitter Amplifier. The goal is to build the common emitter circuit on the breadboard and test it out.

What is the Common Emitter Amp? Its a single transistor amplifier found in many guitar pedal circuits. Range Master and EHX LPB-1 are two pedals that common emitter amps. Others like the Big Muff are built around two or more.

You can use the common emitter amp as a starting point to explore transistors, or as a building block for creating or modifying circuits.

Here is a pamphlet for this session: Pedal Zine.
