Here’s a great thread. I’ll need to read it a few times before it all sinks in. http://circuitworkshop.com/forum/index.php?topic=71.0
Here’s a simple idea that you will work on almost every transistor circuit out there. We’ll apply it to the MosFET boost here. Remember the gain of the MosFET boost was determined by the Drain and Source resistors. For the example circuit, as the Source resistor decreases in value the gain increases. A capacitor acts…
Here’s a typical MosFET boost. The gain is roughly determined by the ratio of Drain and Source resistors. Divide the Drain resistor (Rd) by the Source resistor (Rs) to find the gain. For example if Rd = 5k and Rs = 5k the gain is 1. Use a Pot for Rs to set variable gain.…
Assume there’s your favorite booster at the input, what is D2 doing? This is the most common clipping arrangement that I have seen. It seems that D2 does nothing. If the boost at the input is running off 9V then the you should have a single that is centered on 4.5V going past the two…
Here’s a quick idea for a MosFet Range Booster.
Here’s an image of a BB sized template. I have made one of these to test it. Someone asked about it so I thought I’d post an image. This image was created at 200 PPI.
One of the Ugly Face’s that I built got a mention in the Fretboard Journal. No picture though. Which is too bad. They took a picture of a bunch of other more common name brand things. Really Tim Escobedo should have gotten a mention. The people writing these articles need to educate themselves on the…
Here’s an idea for a ring modulator. I used a 3080 for the balanced modulator from the Ring-Modu-Matic. I used an envelope, from the Meatball, to control the carrier frequency. This is untested. The controlling the FET to turn on the carrier is going to be a challenge.
There were a few mistakes in the last version of this. Here’s an updated schematic and PCB.
Here’s a PCB and Layout for the Ring Modu-Matic. I have yet to build this yet so use these files at your own risk! The dual gang pot in the lower corner I can’t get rid of, due to my lack of skills with Eagle. Notice the lines connecting the pot to pads on the…
This is a first draft of an idea that I have been thinking about for a few months. It’s a Tremolo that pans between the input signal and the signal coming through the FX Loop. If no signal is coming in to the FX Loop it would act as a normal Tremolo. Otherwise it would…
